Educational Associate
The ASP Educational Associate is conferred on those special individuals who actively participate and promote the ideals and philosophies of the organization beyond the initial recognition given with their acceptance into the Society. It is available to all active, life, honorary life and international members of the Society that hold a PPA Craftsman degree. |

Requirements
a. PPA Craftsman Degree
b. Thirty (30) additional PPA speaking/teaching merits beyond their Craftsman degree
c. Minimum of three (3) years consecutive membership in ASP
d. Current member in good standing of ASP and PPA
e. Acceptance of thesis paper written and submitted to ASP Educational Associate Committee
ASP Educational Associate Committee
a. Committee shall be appointed by the ASP President and shall consist of
i. Committee Chairman
ii. Four (4) Educational Associate holders
iii. One high school or college English professor or source with educational or writing background deemed qualified.
IV. ASP Educational Associate Thesis (paper)
a. The paper shall be at least seven (7) pages in length (double-spaced, not including bibliography or illustrations) and no more than twenty (20) pages in length (double-spaced, not including bibliography or illustrations). The paper shall be presented on 8.5 x 11 inch paper with a top margin of one (1) inch, a bottom margin of one (1) inch, a left margin of one (1) inch and a right margin of one (1) inch. Paragraphs shall be indented one half (.5) inch. Type shall be 12-point in size and acceptable fonts are Times, Times New Roman and Courier.
b. The author of the paper shall be undisclosed to the committee and the writer shall make no reference(s) to persons, places or establishments that would indicate as to the author of the paper.
c. The paper shall be accepted with a cumulative average score of 85 points or higher. The author grants permission to the ASP to publish the paper for public reading.
d. The paper shall be judged upon the following criteria:
i. Maximum 80 points for content.
ii. Maximum 10 points for ability to communicate ideas (style).
iii. Maximum 10 points for form and grammar.
e. The author shall present a thesis statement pertaining to a theory that he/she wishes to discuss and must present documented facts and/or proven arguments to support or dispel that theory. (In other words, independent research pertaining to a given topic or new idea)
f. Submission deadline for the paper is October 1st. All judging will be completed by November 15th. The ASP Educational Associate will be awarded at the ASP Awards Presentation held in conjunction with the PPA National Convention.
g. Eligible members applying for the ASP Educational Associate must submit:
i. Six (6) printed copies of the thesis
ii. One (1) electronic PDF file of the thesis
iii. The completed ASP Educational Associate application form
iv. A current photograph of the applicant
v. A brief biography of the applicant
vi. The application fee in the form of a check payable to ASP
vii. A current merit report as provided by PPA |
